Halloween Murder Mystery: The Rules**This will be the last message regarding this particular contest that is posted outside of %Halloween-HQ. If you would like to join the contest, please keep an eye on that group for kickoff information and announcements.**
Welcome to Halloween 2013! A group of CVs and partnering community members have gathered to bring you a Halloween haunted murder mystery. We have worked extremely hard on it, and we hope you will enjoy it.
The contest will start tomorrow, 11 October 2013, and will run until 1 November at 11:59 PM Pacific time.
The role of the detectives
We will post introductory information that tells you what happened and what we would like you to do. Essentially, your job is to solve the murder in the castle. You will talk to several people along the path to figure out who the murderer was. Along the way, we have small tasks and puzzles for you to complete. At the end, we will ask you to tell
Making Your ToU Crystal Clear- WIPs, etc.Hello stockers and stock users!
It has recently come to my attention by talking to another CV that some people are having a problem with a particular stock issue. That issue is WIPs. I have no idea who the stock provider was or the stock user (I saw a journal but have long forgotten), and I don't know how the issue was settled, so if it was you, I'm not talking directly to or about you specifically in this journal. This is a good issue for all of us to pay some attention to, and brings up other issues as well.
First, a word to the stockers:
Most of us have in our stock terms something along the lines of, "Show me your finished work."
The problem with this is that if you want to see WIPs that are posted on deviantART, the stock user is probably not understanding that. The word "finished" in your terms means exactly that to them: finished work. The work in progress is not a finished work, and therefor, according to your term
New Username Symbols: The JourneyA New Road to Travel
When I was first approached with the project to redesign and replace our user symbols I was naturally quite shocked. For those of us who've been part of deviantART for a long while, changing the username symbols seemed like changing the colour of the sky, or asking everyone to suddenly start walking backwards, right? It seemed like such a fundamental part of what deviantART is that it was hard to take on board. But then really, when you think about it, the old symbols were meaningless at face value. And that, my dear friends, is exactly why we set about looking at rethinking them.
Think about when you first found and joined deviantART. Did any of the symbols make sense? Did you stop and think "what is this ~ before my name and why is it there?" Maybe, but possibly you're probably like me and just kinda accepted it because that's the reality presented to you. After a while, though, you'd have seen the * and maybe even a ` or ^ an
ProjectPorkchop Vol270#ProjectPorkchop is all about bringing more exposure to the many talented yet under appreciated artists going unseen on deviantART daily. The artists chosen truly deserve more attention based on low counts of favorites, comments, and watchers, added to their incredible artistic talent.

Where's the love?Dear beloved photomanipulation community . . .
Where's the love?
It seems like everywhere we look, someone is saying that the community is dying or that things are going downhill: the DDs aren't good enough, there aren't enough DDs, the wrong people are getting DDs. People are getting away with theft and copyright violations, and others are harassing them about following copyright laws that, in truth, only dA staff themselves can enforce. Meanwhile, no one is receiving feedback on their work. Where's the love?
We all want our community to be bright and strong, a place where we feel loved and where we feel comfortable coming to create and to interact with others. But, how many of us are actually willing to do something about it?
I know, we are all really busy. We all have lives and families, and sometimes trying to get involved with this community takes more effort than we are willing to expend. But, sometimes, even if everyone can just do something small,
